US mother who refused cancer treatment while pregnant in a failed bid to save the life of her unborn son dies on New Year's Eve

Kathy Taylor, 34, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer while 26-weeks pregnant with her sixth child, died Wednesday. The woman refused treatment at the time to save her unborn son. Kathy prolonged the delivery as long as she could, but doctors induced labor when her liver began to fail. The baby was whisked away to an intensive care unit and Kathy was given about a day to live. Defying expectations, Kathy held on for months, and her husband says that New Year's Eve will now be a celebration of his Kathy's life.
