Christmas Disaster In Pakistan, ....42 Dead, Hundreds Hospitalized After Drinking Toxic Booze At Christmas Party

At least 42 people have died and around 150 are in hospital after drinking a toxic homemade alcohol at a Christmas party.  The victims fell ill after consuming the 'moonshine' liquor while celebrating.

The group, all thought to be religious Christians, held a party in eastern Punjab, Pakistan, to mark the festival.

But hundreds fell unconscious and were taken to clinics, as 42 others died. Five Muslims were also among the dead.

Police are investigating where the alcohol came from but the person who provided it to the party was among the dead.

Army Recovers Shekau’s Qur’an, Flag In Sambisa

 
The Nigerian Army on Wednesday said it had recovered Abubakar Shekau’s Qur’an and flag in Camp Zero, the Boko Haram’s Headquarters in Sambisa forest.

The Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj.-Gen. Lucky Irabor, said this while giving newsmen update on “Operation Rescue Final’’ in Maiduguri.

He said, “We believe that the Holy Book and the flag were abandoned by Abubakar Shekau while he escaped.

“The Book will be taken to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Burutai, for onward presentation to Mr. President.

Photos: Plane Crash Lands On Packed Spanish Beach As Tourists Flee

Sunbathers on a Spanish beach popular with tourists had to run for their lives when a small plane attempted an emergency landing.

The three-seater aircraft spewed debris across the sands when it crashed onto the Las Teresitas beach in Tenerife shortly before 1pm yesterday.

A woman and a 14-year-old girl managed to walk away from the wreckage with slight injuries, but the pilot, freed by firefighters, suffered more serious injuries.

The trio, of French and Belgian nationality, are recovering in the Hospital of La Candelaria, according to local newspaper La Vanguardia.

A new born was found in the gutter this morning at maraba area Ilorin. the little born baby was seen with nylon on it's neck that was used to strangle it to death. Though the identity of the person that dropped the baby there has not been ascertained as at the time of filling this report...

I Killed My Mother Because She Was Demanding For S3x- Nigerian Man

A 33-year-old man, Segun Ogunlusi has explained why he stabbed his 60-year-old mother, Abimbola Ogunlusi to death, claiming his mother was pestering him to have s3x with her.

Ogunlusi who was paraded at the Ogun State police command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Tuesday by the state police commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, alongside 23 other suspects who were held for alleged armed robbery, cultism, and kidnapping, confessed that he killed her because she was persistently asking him for s3x.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday 13th December, 2016 at Number 16, Oketunde Street, Molatori, Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

Resign On Moral Grounds, Wabara Tells Magu

A former President of the Senate, Adolphus Wabara, has called on the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, to resign his appointment following indicting security reports about him.

Mr. Wabara, who made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja, also called for the resignation of on the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal.

The Senate had called for the resignation of Mr. Lawal for his alleged involvement in diversion of funds meant for humanitarian services in the North-East.

Mr. Wabara urged the duo to resign on moral grounds, saying it did not matter if the allegations against them were proved or not.

NLC Threatens Nationwide Strike If N56,000 Minimum Wage Is Not Implemented

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened a nationwide strike in May 1,2017 if the Federal Government does not begin implementation of the N56,000 new national minimum wage it proposed or even set up a committee to that effect.

This was made in a statement by Congress’ President, Mr. Ayuba Wabba during a meeting in Abuja.

“The issue of minimum wage remains sacrosanct because of the fact that by law and practice, the review is due and overdue. I have said clearly that we cannot guarantee any industrial peace any longer if necessary steps are not taken by government to try to resolve this issue before the next May Day.”

Photos: Russian Ambassador Shot Dead

This is likely to be the saddest thing most of us have seen this year and i wonder how his family will forever live with this, seeing their father/brother/uncle being shot dead life in a broadcast. Some people are just animals, they don’t deserve to live. The idiot shot him severally and kept shouting allahu akbar.

So the Russian ambassador to Turkey was murdered this evening in an 'assassination attempt' - that was allegedly carried out in retaliation for the crisis in Aleppo.

Before opening fire on Andrei Karlov the gunman reportedly shouted in Turkish: "We die in Aleppo, you die here", then continued shouting allahu akbar several times.  At least three others were injured in the attack during the ambassador's speech at an art gallery in the Turkish capital Ankara.
Mr Karlov was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but died soon after.


The attacker, who is believed to be a police officer, fired a shot into the air as the ambassador spoke and then shot him....

Rob Kardashian Apologizes To Blac Chyna, Promises To Be A Better Man

Rob Kardashian has taken to Instagram  to apologize to Blac Chyna and their daughter, Dream, after the duo called it quit on their 11-month relationship this past weekend.

“This weekend I was in an emotional bad place and did some things that embarrassed myself and my family,” he captioned a photo of himself and his former fiancée posing at an event. “I apologize and I'm seeking help to deal with my flaws/issues. Please pray for me and I'm sorry @blacchyna. You are a great mother to our child and I love you.”

In a subsequent post, the new dad, 29, shared a photo of his little girl — who he and Chyna, 28, welcomed on November 11 — taking a bath in the sink. “I am going to get better for you Dream,” he wrote alongside the pic. “You are my life and gave me a new start on being a better me. Love you.”

Zimbabwe's Ruling Party Endorses 92-Year Old Robert Mugabe For President

Zimbabwe's ruling party has endorsed 92-year-old President Robert Mugabe as its candidate in a national election scheduled for 2018.

The ZANU-PF party announced the endorsement Saturday at an annual conference in the southeast town of Masvingo. The party's youth wing even proposed that Mugabe should rule for life with broad powers.

In a speech Friday, Mugabe acknowledged that some people within the ruling party wanted him to quit and he warned officials to stop squabbling as a succession battle intensifies.

Mugabe has been in power since the southern African nation's independence from white minority rule in 1980.

Three occupants of a Hyundai car with Lagos registration number FST 779DG, said to be returning from a night party narrowly escaped death in an auto crash which occurred in Osogbo in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A Punch correspondent gathered that a lady in the car, sustained a minor injury as the vehicle which was on top speed hit the kerb, somersaulted and landed on a stationary Volkswagen Golf car parked by the road side.

Two other occupants of the yellow car,  were said to have also came out of the car without any injury.

Indonesian Air Force Plane Crashes In Papua, Kills All On Board

An Indonesian air force transport plane has crashed into a mountain killing all 13 on board.

The crash happened during a training exercise in the remote region of Papua, a search and rescue agency official said earlier this morning.

The Hercules C130 plane had taken off from the city of Timika before crashing near its destination of Wamena at around 6.15 a.m. local time (23:15 GMT), said Ivan Ahmad Riski Titus, operational director of Indonesia's Search and Rescue Agency.

The crash site on Lisuwa mountain had been found and the bodies of the victims were being brought back to Wamena, he said. May their souls rest in peace.

NFF Release Statement On How Much They Paid Super Falcons, Officials

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)have announced how much the Super Falcons and officials were paid today after they received the cash from the government.

A breakdown of the Super Falcons’ monies showed that each player got the sum of N5,494,500, less the sum of N600,000 that was earlier paid to each of the players at various times by the NFF.

The amount is at the rate of $17,900 (converted to Naira at the official rate of N305 to $1), plus the sum of N15,000 camp allowance and N20,000 transport allowance. All the monies were converted at the official rate of N305 to $1.


Head coach Florence Omagbemi got a total of N11,014,000 (less the sum of N800,000 paid to her earlier), while assistant coaches Ann Chiejine, Perpetua Nkwocha and Bala Mohammed, as well as the backroom staff were N8,274,250 richer, less the N500,000 earlier paid to each of them.

Boy, 12, Allegedly Tries To Detonate 'Nail Bomb' In Christmas Market In Germany

A 12-year-old boy is alleged to have attempted to explode a homemade bomb at a Christmas market in Germany, according to media reports.

The device -- reported to be a nail bomb -- was reportedly destroyed by a police bomb squad after being found in the western German city of Ludwigshafen.

Prosecutors have reportedly said that the 12-year-old left a backpack containing bomb at the market that but the device did not go off because the detonator apparently failed.

"I can confirm that we have started an investigation based on the discovery of a nail bomb in Ludwigshafen," federal prosecutor Stefan Biehl is quoted as saying.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi is set to marry his childhood sweetheart Antonella Roccuzzo next summer.  The wedding is expected to take place in their native city of Rosario in Argentina where they met as children through Lucas Scaglia, Antonella’s footballer cousin and a close friend of Messi.

City newspaper La Capital said it had confirmed the union with a relative of the footballer’s who told them: “It’s true, there’ll be a wedding the middle of next year."

Bird Flu Resurfaces In Kano Again

Kano State Government has announced the resurfacing of bird flu in the state. Dr Shehu Bawa, the Director Veterinary Services, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, disclosed this to Journalists in Kano yesterday.

Bawa said the outbreak was recorded in one of the poultry farms in the state.

He said the affected farm had been depopulated while stringent measures were taken to prevent the spread of the disease.

Valentina Guebuza, daughter of the former president of Mozambique, Armando Emílio Guebuza, has been reportedly shot dead by her husband, many reports states.

The crime occurred in Maputo and Zofimo Muiuane, the main suspect, has been arrested.

She was rushed to the hospital after been shot but she succumbed to her injuries.

According to reports from the country, the couple had made public some disagreements last week.

NFF Pays Just N100k Each To Falcons Out Of Outstanding Millions, Girls Remain In Hotel

Protesting players of the Nigerian senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons may have soft-pedalled on their decision to openly confront the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and the federal government over the non payment of bonuses and other allowances running into millions of naira after winning an unprecedented eight African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Cameroon a fortnight ago.

The African champions refused to vacate their hotel in Abuja, insisting they will remain there until they were paid their money. A visit to the hotel yesterday by Sports Vanguard showed that the girls who were hitherto eager to talk to the media concerning their plight were no where to be found as they stayed back in the rooms with a directive to the front desk staff that they do not want to talk to anybody.

Adamawa: 30 Die As Two Female Suicide Bombers Detonate Explosives

At least 30 people have been killed in a suicide bomb attack in Adamawa state, the army disclosed.
Two female suicide bombers detonated their explosives in a busy market, an army spokesman told AFP news agency today.

Dozens of others were wounded in the bombing, the army spokesman Major Badare Akintoye said.

The two bombers, who were "disguised as customers, detonated their suicide belts at the section of the market selling grain and second-hand clothing."

What truly transpired between a 27-year-old Computer Science graduate of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Okonikhere Joy, and her boyfriend on the night of Sunday, December 4, 2016 causing the former’s death may never be known.

But this much is clear: That night, there was a scuffle between them at a hotel in Orile area of Lagos. By morning, Joy’s corpse was discovered by workers at the hotel, prompting them to alert the police. But the unidentified boyfriend was in the wind.

Saturday Punch learnt that when the workers at the hotel made the discovery, they recalled noticing that there was a scuffle inside the hotel room where Joy and her boyfriend lodged the night before.  When the case was reported to the police, a manhunt was instantly launched for the suspect.

Indonesia Earthquake Kills Dozens in Aceh Province

Dozens of people were killed early Wednesday and more were feared dead after a powerful earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Sumatra, with many of the victims crushed to death in their homes as they slept.

The earthquake, which shook Sumatra’s northernmost province, Aceh, had a preliminary magnitude of 6.5, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The Indonesian National Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said that the temblor, which struck after 5 a.m. at a depth of about six miles, was centered in Pidie Jaya, a region on the province’s east coast, adjacent to the Strait of Malacca.


Government agencies gave conflicting reports on the number of casualties.

Maj. Gen. Tatang Sulaiman, the army chief in Aceh, said that 97 people had died. Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for the National Agency for Disaster Management, said at least 52 people were killed and 273 injured, 73 of them seriously.

Pakistan Plane Carrying 47 Passengers Crashes

A Pakistani plane carrying up to 47 passengers has crashed near Abottabad, a regional police official has said. Pakistan International Airlines' (PIA) passenger plane PK 116 was on its way to Islamabad from the northern city of Chitral.

The national flag carrier confirmed in a statement the plane had lost contact with air traffic controllers on Wednesday afternoon.

Initial reports said there were 37 passengers on the plane, however reports from Geo News and Dawn News channels both reported 47 people were on board the missing aircraft. This is just so sad. How many plane crashes in the last 7 days? Oh December!

Donald Trump Is Time Magazine's Person Of The Year

US President elect Donald Trump was today chosen as the TIME’s Person of the Year 2016 for his stunning victory in the US polls.

“It’s a great honour. It means a lot. I have grown up reading Time magazine, it’s a very important magazine. It is a tremendous honor, I am lucky to be on the cover of Time in the past,” Trump told NBC’s news program Today minutes after Time announced the next US President was Person of the Year 2016.

Time said after campaigning as an anti-establishment, populist candidate, 70-year-old Trump was elected the 45th President of the US — a stunning end to a presidential bid that repeatedly broke with political precedent. Trump Attacks China In Twitter Outburst

US President-elect Donald Trump has posted a series of tweets criticising China for its monetary policy and its operations in the South China Sea.

"Did China ask us if it was OK to devalue their currency" and "build a massive military complex?" he asked. "I don't think so!"

Last week Mr Trump risked a diplomatic rift with China by speaking directly with Taiwan's president.  The highly unusual move saw China lodge a complaint with the US.

The US has previously criticised China's yuan devaluation, saying it unfairly favours Chinese exporters.

Kaduna Government Officially Labels Shiite IMN ‘Insurgent’, Declares War On Them

According to Premium Times, the Kaduna State Government has officially labelled the Shiite Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, an INSURGENT GROUP.

This is contained in a White Paper released by the state government on Monday in Kaduna.

“For all intent and purpose, the IMN is an insurgent group and ought to be treated as such,” the government said n the white paper.

The government also said the detained Shiite leader, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, will be held responsible for all acts carried out by the group’s members.
