Photos Of President Jonathan Arriving Lagos Today For A Two-Day Visit

The president arrived Lagos this evening and will be spending two days in the State.See two more after the cut.

A middle-aged man who narrowly escaped death in the hands of angry teachers for allegedly impregnating a secondary school girl was on Wednesday confirmed to be a Personal Assistant to the Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime.

Vanguard gathered that the true identity of the man (names withheld) was found in his Kia car impounded by the angry teachers. The car was still lying at the premises of Metropolitan Girls Secondary School located at Ogui New layout Enugu as at the time of this report along with his Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and other documents found in the car.

God has a lot of judgement to make on the last day. A Cleric has been arrested in Badagry for allegedly killing a client who came to meet him for a concoction of favour. The client wanted the man to make him a concoction to eat so that his boss at work will favour him, unknown to him; he was going to be fed with concoction of death. On that fateful day, around 11pm, while coming back from work, he branched at the Alfa’s house to have the concoction and the Alfa gave him a poisonous one. He died in the middle of the night, and so the Alfa called another cleric who came around, packed his body in a sack and took him to a bush. The invited Alfa later cut off his head and his two wrists. The following day, more Alfas where invited into the secret location in the bush and his major body parts were cut away, Luck however ran out on them when his body was dumped inside a river, and the deceased wife could also confirm her husband had mentioned going to the Alfa’s place that night. Boris Nemtsov, a Russian opposition politician and former deputy prime minister, has been shot dead in central Moscow late Friday night.

Nemtsov, 55, an outspoken critic of President Vladimir Putin, had been due to take part on Sunday in the first big opposition protest in months in the Russian capital before he was shot dead four times this night.

"Nemtsov B.E. died at 2340 hours as a result of four shots in the back," a government spokeswoman confirms.

Several police and political sources have told SaharaReporters that Sam Chukwu, a sinister police officer reputed for masterminding a group of rogue policemen who carried out kidnapping, armed robbery and other major crimes in Enugu State, was recently promoted and deployed to Lagos in order to fortify a team of senior police officers charged with helping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) carry out massive rigging in Lagos State and other southwest states. Our police sources named Mr. Chukwu, who is linked to a major kidnap and murder case in Enugu, as a key player in the scheme, whose leader is Assistant Inspector General of Police Joseph Mbu.

Late SUPOL Christian Eza Bala Ibrahim,

A police corporal working with a patrol team on night duty in Bauchi, capital of Bauchi State, shot and killed a police superintendent, Christian Eza, a former aide de camp to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State. Until his shooting death, Mr. Eza served as commander of the Mobile Police (MOPOL 10) in Bauchi State.

According to a police signal obtained by SaharaReporters, superintendent Eza was in mufti and going home from work around 11:30 p.m. (Nigerian time) when he ran into a patrol team within the Bauchi metropolis. He reportedly noticed that a member of the patrol team was wearing a MOPOL khaki cargo pant, which is not allowed for those policemen who are directly in the MOPOL.

The Ebonyi State House of Assembly has served Governor Martin Elechi an impeachment notice this morning. The acting leader of the House, Hon. Francis Nwifruru accused the Governor of huge financial misappropriation, undermining of the integrity of the House, among other offences, saying he is no longer fit to rule the state.

The motion for him to be served the notice was moved by Hon. Odefa Obasi Odefa and seconded by Hon. Valentine Okike. We shall bring you more details later.

Senior officials of the United States government said they have been reassured by the Nigerian government and the Independent National Electoral Commission that the rescheduled general elections would hold on their new dates.

Linda Thomas-Greenfield and Doug Frantz, who spoke during a webchat with African journalists, Wednesday, said that Nigeria’s election would set the tone for the other coming elections around Africa.
“We have been assured by the government of Nigeria and by Chairman (Attahiru) Jega (INEC boss) that the election will take place on March 28th and we are seeing very active work being done by the Nigerian security service working closely with the governments of Cameroun, Chad, and neighbours to fight Boko Haram,” said Mrs. Thomas-Greenfield, Assistant Secretary of State, African Affairs.

People residing in six villages in Abuja, the nation’s capital, have been forced by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, to leave their homes and relocate to a neighbouring Wukara community at the Aviation Village in Abuja to pave way for the establishment of a farm by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his mother, Madam Afeni Eunice.
The large expanse of the land was allocated to them by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Daily Trust reported.

The farmland, measuring 95.88 hectares, is located at the Cadastral Zone, Aviation Village, within the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, and was specifically allocated to Ebele Integrated Farms Limited by FCTA on March 8, 2012, two days after the company applied for the land and less than three months after it was incorporated by the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC.

Multiple Blasts Hit Major Organizations In Cairo, As Blasts Also Rock Jos

One person has been killed in a bombing outside a pizzeria in the Egyptian capital today as other blasts hit a police station and offices of cell phone companies. The bomb tore off the legs of a citizen who was pronounced dead at the hospital. Two other people were also injured.

As if that wasn't enough, few hours later, another explosion occurred outside a police station in the north of the capital, wounding a police conscript and three passersby. Then again, bombs also went off outside the country’s Vodafone and Etisalat office in Cairo. The blasts damaged the store fronts but caused no serious casualties. Only two people were wounded, an interior ministry spokesman says. The attacks were carried out by militants who have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group.

Doctors were unable to take Bobbi Kristina out of her medically-induced coma on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old, who is on life support at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, began having seizures when they began taking her off various medications, CNN reports.

It was then decided to keep her in the coma.

Whitney Houston's daughter remains in a serious condition after being found unconscious in a bathtub at her home on January 31.

Last week, she was given a tracheotomy.

Few details about the young woman's condition have been revealed since she entered the hospital, and her father, Bobby Brown, has asked that the media not take interviews from the numerous family members who have come forward to speak about his daughter's condition.

Nigerian Army Chief In Baga, Promises To Wipe Out Boko Haram In Next Few Weeks

Nigerian army Chief, Lieutenant General Kenneth Minimah, has visited Baga town in Borno State, which has just been recaptured from Boko Haram, reiterating that the militants will be wiped out of Nigeria’s northeast in the next few weeks.

Gen. Minimah arrived Maiduguri earlier in the day accompanied by some military officers, shortly after that he hopped on helicopter accompanied by the crew of the government official propaganda television station, the National television Authority (NTA).

A woman who delivered a baby boy at a private hospital in Ifo Local Government area on Tuesday has said she does not need the baby she carried for 9 months and gave birth to. She says her husband took to his heels shortly after finding out the baby was deformed. Her landlord also called her not to bring the baby home and she says she is now helpless because the hospital has discharged them and wants them out too. She is now calling on the government to come for the baby, as she does not want to have anything with him. How sad can this woman be?

Buhari Speaks At Chatham House, As Rented Hecklers Clash With APC Supporters Outside Venue

Muhammad Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) today delivered a widely anticipated speech at the Chatham House in London, affirming his readiness to run and win the postponed 2015 presidential elections.

Mr. Buhari arrived at the Chatham House venue of the event accompanied by several APC figures, including former Governor Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the party’s national chairman John Odigie Oyegun, and Governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State as well as former Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi.

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, has claimed ignorance of his own affidavit to scuttle the use of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) in Nigeria’s elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Mohammed Adoke In a press statement on Wednesday in response to the SaharaReporters’ story, Mr. Adoke stated that the two affidavits which were filed by his own staff in the Ministry of Justice without his permission, but that he was accepting responsibility for the incident.

The First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan yesterday encouraged women in Ikom, Cross River State while in continuation of the PDP nationwide women rally to solicit votes for her husband, said the best option for the women of Cross Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole was for them to vote for her husband. She described the president as a man who has the interest of women at heart and should be re-elected. Mrs Jonathan made these statements shortly after inaugurating the 6,000-capacity Ikom Township Stadium.

“I came to thank you for keeping to your promise in 2011 to vote for my husband. And I want to use this opportunity to appeal to you to you to repeat the same thing in the March 28 presidential election.

“My husband, during his first tenure, has performed tremendously and has impacted positively on the people especially women.

The Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi, has approached the Federal High Court, Ibadan, requesting a leave to appeal a judgment of the court. An earlier ruling by the court compelled the Inspector General of Police, IGP, to investigate alleged criminal activities of the monarch.

On December 15, the police chief, in a motion of mandamus filed by Jacob Oluokun and Sulaiman Ajiboye, was compelled by the court in suit No FHC/IB/CS/54/2014 to investigate the allegations of murder, gun running, bomb planting and human right abuses against the monarch, as contained in a petition to the office of the police boss, dated March 18, 2014.
