Gov Wike Bans Street Trading In Rivers

During the inauguration of projects completed by his administration to mark his first year in office, Governor Wike yesterday announced that street trading has been banned in Rivers State and he wants everyone to understand why that must be so. Wike who said he will not give any fraction of Rivers State for anyone to rule for whatsoever reason said;

“I want to appreciate you for your support, but do not be angry for the decision I am going to take now because from today, government has banned street trading and illegal extortion on traders by some hoodlums. When the hoodlums come to you, do not pay, but no more street trading.”

Fayose who was also in Rivers to attend the ceremony said, never again should the people of Rivers allow any APC candidate rule them.

“Never again will APC or an alien rule Rivers State. Those people, who are squandering Rivers money, are no longer in power in the state.  Governor Wike is cleaning the mess of the past administration in the state. This is enough reason to continue to support him and the PDP,” Fayose said.

Moment 4-Year Old Boy Falls Into Zoo Enclosure And Is Grabbed By 400-Lb Gorilla Before Animal Was Shot Dead

A Cincinnati Zoo staff shot and killed the 17-year-old gorilla that grabbed and dragged a four-year-old boy who fell into the gorilla exhibit moat on Saturday afternoon, the Cincinnati Zoo's director said.

Authorities said the boy, who fell 10 to 12 feet, is expected to recover after being picked up out of the moat and dragged by the 400-pound male, lowland gorilla named Harambe.

The boy was in the moat for about 10 minutes and was in between the gorilla's legs when the gorilla was shot.

While zoo officials are still investigating, they believe the boy crawled through a railing barrier, and then fell into the moat.

Nigerian Government announces agreement with Niger Delta militants

The Federal Government and ex-militants have resolved to end the ongoing pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta region, an official has said.

Paul Boroh, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger-Delta Matters and Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme, said this at the end of a meeting he convened in Benin.
Mr. Boro, a retired Brigadier General, told journalists on Saturday night that the pipeline vandalism in the Niger-Delta was reducing the economic fortune of the country and inflicting pains on Nigerians. ‎

He urged the agitators to dialogue with the relevant authorities over their grievances and shun destruction of oil installations.‎

NBA Player Shot Dead After Going Into A Wrong Apartment Thinking It Was That Of His GF

New Orleans Pelicans star Bryce Dejean-Jones has been shot dead after allegedly breaking down the door of a Dallas apartment he believed belonged to his girlfriend.

The 23-year-old NBA player died early on Saturday morning after he was shot in the abdomen.

A man who is a resident at the Camden Belmont Apartments in Dallas, Texas, told police he was sleeping when he heard someone kick down his front door shortly after 3am, Fox 4 reported.

He told police that he grabbed his gun and shot Dejean-Jones when he entered his bedroom.
Police found the basketball player in a pool of blood in an outdoor passageway. He was taken to hospital but could not be saved.

This evening sees Zinedine Zidane pit his wits against Diego Simeone for the second time this year.  The first meeting came at the beginning of the Frenchman’s reign and, like the previous two seasons, ended in a home defeat for Real Madrid.  Questions were asked after the game whether this exposed the flaws in appointing an inexperienced manager, something club president Florentino Perez rarely does.

A man in Thailand suffered huge blood loss after a python sank its fangs into his penis while he was sitting on the toilet.

Atthaporn Boonmakchuay tried desperately to break free after the huge snake attacked in the bathroom of his home in Chachoengsao, east of the capital Bangkok.

The 38-year-old reportedly reached down with his hand after feeling a sharp bite - only to discover the serpent's jaws clamped around the tip of his penis.

Atthaporn screamed out for his wife as he thrashed around trying to dislodge the 11ft python.
Moments before collapsing, he managed to tie rope around the snake's head and tie it to the bathroom door.

Yaya Toure Snubs £577K-A-Week Offer From Chinese League

Yaya Toure is prepared to turn down a £30million-a-year offer from the Chinese league in order to remain in the premier league and continue enjoying top flight football.

Dana Airlines' Pilots Embark On Strike, Disrupt Flights

A disagreement with management over promised largess has snowballed into a strike action by pilots of Dana Airlines resulting in the suspension of normal flight operations today.

Scheduled flights have been disrupted with passengers booked to travel with the airline stranded at airports across the country.

At the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, announcements are made intermittently to communicate the development to customers waiting to board flights.

Donald Trump on Thursday reached the number of delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination for president, completing an unlikely rise that has upended the political landscape and sets the stage for a bitter fall campaign.

Trump was put over the top in the Associated Press delegate count by a small number of the party's unbound delegates who told the AP they would support him at the convention. Among them is Oklahoma GOP chairwoman Pam Pollard.

'I think he has touched a part of our electorate that doesn't like where our country is,' Pollard said. 'I have no problem supporting Mr. Trump.'

It takes 1,237 delegates to win the Republican nomination for president. Trump has reached 1,238. With 303 delegates at stake in five state primaries on June 7, Trump will easily pad his total, avoiding a contested convention in Cleveland in July.

N50b Saved So Far After Buhari Sets Up Audit Team To Look Into Security Agencies Payroll

The Head of the Continuous Audit team of the Federal Government, Mohammed Dikwa, on Tuesday said N50 billion was saved so far through the audit of security agencies payroll.

Mr. Dikwa said this in Abuja at a meeting between the Continuous Audit team, Minister of Finance and Heads of Para-Military agencies.

President Mohammadu Buhari had set up the Continuous Audit team to look into the payroll of all Federal Government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The team had already embarked on the audit of the Military payroll and enrolling them on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

“Since we started the continuous audit programme, we have saved about N50 billion and over 43,000 ghost workers have been removed from the payroll of the federal government.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo has approved a law prescribing the death penalty as the maximum sentence for child rapists, after several brutal gang rapes sparked public outrage in the country.

S3xual violence is prevalent in Southeast Asia's most populous country, but gang rape is unusual.

Social media erupted in calls for harsher punishment following a case early this month, in which a group of men was charged with raping and killing a schoolgirl in Bengkulu in the western island of Sumatra. The case prompted rights groups to accuse the government of not doing enough to protect women and children, and provoked a tweet by Widodo himself seeking punishment of the perpetrators, although his call came more than a month after the event.

El-Rufai Renames Kafanchan Hospital After Late Governor

Kafanchan Hospital in Kaduna State has been re-named. The hospital now carries the name of a late Governor of the State, Governor Patrick Yakowa.

According to the announcement made by the State Government today, through the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the State Governor, Samuel Aruwan, the government-owned hospital was renamed after the late Governor for his distinguished career in public service.

PDP Crisis: Court Sacks New Acting Chairman, Reinstates Ali Modu Sheriff

A Federal High Court in Lagos has nullified the national caretaker committee constituted by the Peoples Democratic Party during last Saturday’s convention.

The convention had appointed a former governor of Kaduna State, Ahmed Makarfi, as acting chairman, while a former Senator, Ben Obi, was appointed acting national secretary.

The party said the acting national officers would be in office for three months.

In a ruling on Tuesday however, Justice Ibrahim Buba ordered Ali Modu Sheriff, the erstwhile chairman of the party to continue serving as the party’s chairman.

EFCC Declares Omisore Wanted.

The EFCC, today, May 24,2016, declared a former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore wanted. The former senator is wanted in connection with a case of receiving and misappropriating the sum of over N700, 000,000.00 from the Office of the National Security Adviser, between June and November, 2014.

Omisore has been elusive and refused to report to the Commission after invitation was extended to him on April 7, 2016 requesting him “to come and make clarification on the ongoing investigation”.
Instead of responding to the Commission’s investigation Omosore had approached the Federal Capital Territory High Court for the enforcement of his fundamental human rights. Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf consequently ordered that Omisore should only be arrested through a due and legal process.

Jose Mourinho's representatives are meeting Manchester United officials as the Portuguese moves closer to becoming the club's next manager.

According to twitter user YM Rigasa, a satanic step mother virtually demolished and dismantled this innocent little boy who is her step son. She cut his tongue, broke his arms and legs, damaged his right eye and castrated the poor child with a blade. The horrifying incident happened in Kano.

Families' agony as the first MS804 victim remains are returned to Cairo so they can be identified from relatives' DNA

 

More than 20 body bags containing remains recovered amid the wreckage from the Mediterranean Sea crash were brought to the Zenhom morgue in the capital by the Egyptian Army at midnight last night. Relatives of the 66 passengers and crew who died were invited to give DNA samples to the forensic services to aid identification. The process was expected to be long and difficult after forensic workers described the remains as 'unrecognisable'. A source said: 'There is no complete body. There are only body parts. But it is important for the families to be able to bury their loved-ones and to be able to visit their grave to help with the mourning process.' It comes as hundreds of mourners attended memorial services (pictured) over the weekend for some of the 66 victims of the EgyptAir plane which mysteriously crashed into the Mediterranean on Thursday after an apparent fire on board. 

Buhari To Spend N3.9bn On Aso Rock Maintenance

President Muhammadu Buhari will spend N3.914bn on the maintenance of the Presidential Villa, Abuja this year.

This is apart from another N282.962m he has already set aside for the  General Maintenance
Services of State House (Headquarters); and the N41.844m budgeted for General Maintenance Services of State House Operations (Vice President).

These figures are contained in the details of the 2016 Appropriation Act recently signed into law by the President and made available on the website of the Budget Office.
