Manchester United beat Aston Villa 4-1 with goals from Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Javier Hernandez.
The match started with a ‘MOYES OUT’ banner being flown overhead, and things got worse for United when Ashley Westwood curled in a free kick from 25 yards. It took United seven minutes to equalise, when Rooney, unmarked, headed in Shinji Kagawa’s cross from the left wing. Just before half-time, Mata was fouled by Leandro Bacuna in the box, and Rooney expertly converted the penalty.
In the second half, Villa almost equalised with Marc Albrighton’s cross headed over by Christian Benteke. On 57 minutes, Mata extended United’s lead after firing in a low shot after Fellaini brought down Alexander Buttner’s header.
Villa had a penalty appeal turned down when Nemanja Vidic fell and brought Benteke down with him, who also failed to convert a late chance when unmarked. In the 91st minute, Hernandez added United’s fourth, turning in Adnan Januzaj’s cross at the back post. posted by Emanto Ngaloru March 29, 2014.
