A 23-year-old man, Christian Samuel, has been remanded in the Ikoyi
Prison by an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court for allegedly killing his
girlfriend, Ijeoma Nwachukwu.
And according to Punch, the police said Samuel forced Ijeoma, 26, who he had been dating for sometime to drink acid while they were together at Cossy-Inn Hotel, Abule-Oshun, Lagos State. 23 years old Samuel had found out Ijeoma got engaged to another man without telling him. He pretended as if nothing happened and invited the deceased to the hotel on January 11, 2014, then allegedly forced her to drink the acid, leading to her death.
It was learnt that Samuel abandoned Ijeoma’s corpse in the hotel and fled. The owner of the hotel, Olusegun Sangojumo, discovered the corpse, but did not report to the police. Instead, the 64-year-old called his manager, Kehinde Ajibola, and one of the workers, Azeez Olaitan, to dispose of the corpse at the Mile 2 end of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. The police eventually discovered the corpse and in the course of investigation, rounded up all the suspects.
While Samuel was arraigned for murder, the other three suspects were arraigned and granted bail for accessory after the fact. The matter has been adjourned till April 2, 2014 pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
