PDP has suspended its former chairman, Bamanga Tukur, for
taking a legal action to reclaim his lost seat. According to a statement
released, the party said it sanctioned Mr. Tukur for failing to explore the
party’s mechanisms for redress, before going to court to challenge his ouster.
Mr. Tukur had earlier asked a court to nullify his
resignation in January, saying he was compelled to stand down and also to sack
the current chairman, Adamu Mu’azu. But a Federal Court yesterday dismissed his
prayers.
PDP has however announced his suspension and that of another
member, Aliyu Gurin who supported him in the process, saying they will be on a
one month suspension and are also expected to face a disciplinary committee.
