were a few sniggers when a younger Cristiano Ronaldo was making noises
about being the world's greatest player while struggling for consistency
at Manchester United. A season or two later at the age of 23, Ronaldo illustrated when he had been airing such opinions.
Before
lifting his first Ballon d'Or in 2009, Ronaldo demonstrated the level
of self-belief that has carried him so far when he was asked who was the
best player on the planet. "I am the first, second and third," said
