Stephen Keshi sent an official notice to the Nigeria Football
Federation (NFF) today, formally confirming that he will stay on to
continue as the national team's coach.
According to
Reports from the NFF office in Abuja claim an assistant coach submitted
Keshi's acceptance of the NFF's formal offer, via letter, on his behalf.Recall the coach's original contract with the NFF ended following the World Cup in Brazil. The coach, in his three years at the helm, led the Eagles to win the Africa Cup of Nations a third time and to qualification (and entry into the Round of 16) in a fifth World Cup.
It is alleged that Keshi has asked that the NFF to provide him with an official residence and car in the coming contract.
Other supposed demands include timely payment of his monthly salary and full control of hiring and oversight of backroom staff.
Nigeria will play Rwanda, in Nigeria, on September 7. This will be the Eagles' first qualifying match for the Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Morocco in 2015.
