Three sisters who were branded 'untouchable' due to gruesome foot sores walk for the first time after surgery to correct rare foot deformity

Indian sisters with horrific foot sores walk for first time after surgery

Three sisters in India who suffer an extremely rare condition have started walking for the first time after having huge growths removed from their feet. Gitarani Sethi, 12, and her younger sisters, eight-year-old twins Ganga and Jamuna, were all born with Olmsted syndrome, a very rare condition that sees an abnormal thickening of the palms and soles. The girls were born normal at home in Bhadrak, in Odisha, eastern Indian, but close to their first birthdays deep layers of skin began to grow uncontrollably on the soles of their feet.
