Dramatic moment Ross Kemp was almost killed in a Syrian trench as he came under fire from ISIS snipers

Ross Kemp was almost killed in a Syrian trench by ISIS snipers

The jihadists targeted the actor, 51, and his crew while filming a new documentary set to be released this week. Kemp was sheltering in rubble (top left) with Kurdish fighters battling ISIS when a bullet fired from 300 metres away flew over his head. It then cracked against a wall behind him (right) and sent shrapnel flying before he was forced to sprint away to safety across a section of open ground. The incident, close to the Euphrates river in Syria, happened while making his new Sky1 documentary: The Fight Against ISIS, which will be broadcast this week. Describing what happened he said: 'We came under pretty intense sniper fire. You don't hear the bullets moving towards you - they're travelling too fast. Faster than the speed of sound. 'You hear the snap as they break the sound barrier and the snap as they hit the wall. You can feel the air pressure changing - you can feel the whoosh, the whip of the wind around the bullet. You can feel it'.
