The much talked about ATM fraudsters are not resting on the oars. They are all over the place laying siege to any susceptible victim. These criminals go about fleecing unwary members of the public with their ingenious, ever-changing modes of operations. The latest being the infamous identity theft.
Before now, cloning and PIN harvesting through electronic chips cleverly concealed in the Automated Teller Machine (ATM), was the universal mode. Over time, the tricks and decoys to entrap their victims keep changing and have assumed a disturbing dimension..

Arase Issues Press Release From UK, Denies Going Away With 24 Police Vehicles

A former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has denied taking away 24 police vehicles as alleged by his successor, Ibrahim Idris. The ex-IGP also denied getting any letter from Idris since he has been in the United Kingdom.

Arase made the clarification in a statement he signed and issued from London, United Kingdom, where he went for his son’s graduation.

According to him, every information needed by his successor on vehicles bought by the police were in his hand-over notes.

Dasuki’s Appeal Put On Hold By Court

The Court of Appeal today put on hold hearing on an appeal filed by former NSA Sambo Dasuki, seeking discharge of all the criminal charges against him by the Federal Government.

The presiding Judge, Justice Abdul Aboki, held that the appeal was not ripe for hearing since parties had failed to file all relevant process before the court.

“As you have all seen, the respondent’s brief is not before us which means the process that should give room for the hearing of the appeal is not concluded yet.

Lagos Working With Security Agencies To Address, Kidnapping, Armed Robberies

The Lagos State Government today assured residents of the State that it was working hard in conjunction with security agencies to address the recent cases of kidnapping and armed robberies in some parts of the State. It also disclosed that security intelligence has revealed useful leads towards identifying notorious syndicates behind the heinous crimes and their accomplices.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello, the State Government said it is alive to its core responsibilities of protecting the citizens as the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode will not shirk from its function of protecting the lives and property of its citizens in every part of the state.

The Technical and Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has named 52-year old Frenchman Paul Le Guen, as the new Technical Adviser of the senior national team, the Super Eagles.

Remi Tinubu Writes IG, Save Me From Melaye

The lawmaker representing Lagos-Central senatorial district, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has written a petition against her Kogi-West counterpart, Senator Dino Melaye, Punch reports.

In the petition which was addressed to the acting Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, and dated July 18, 2016, the senator, who is the wife of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, said Melaye threatened her life on the floor of the Senate last week.

She said Melaye had a penchant for violence as he had engaged in fisticuffs with his colleagues when he was in the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2011.

The complainant alleged that a particular lawmaker had even died after being beaten up by Melaye.

She, therefore, urged the IG to protect her from harm.

According to eyewitnesses, some Catholics had gone to the church to pray and were attacked by the Muslims who claimed that Friday is their day of prayer and that the Church only has right to worship on Sundays.

Okupe was questioned over alleged N162million illicit payments to him and his companies by a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), and Chanchaga Local Government in Niger State.

But the former presidential spokesman pleaded with the EFCC not to detain him because he has a heart problem.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has seized six choice properties allegedly acquired by Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State with stolen public funds.

The duplexes, estimated at N1.350billion include four in Lagos and two in Abuja.

According to the Nation,they were allegedly acquired for him by his associate, Abiodun Agbele and sister. Mrs. Moji Ladeji.

A furious Mrs. Ladeji has approached the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti laying claim to one of the Abuja duplexes anyway.

A charity match in Turkey organised by legendary former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o has been impacted by an attempted coup in the country.

Yet another disgusting honour killing. Pakistani social media celebrity, Qandeel Baloch has been killed by her own brother in an apparent 'honour killing' in the province of Punjab, police say.

Ms Baloch, 26, recently caused controversy by posting controversial pictures of herself on social media, including one alongside a Muslim cleric. Police say she was strangled to death. Cases of women being killed for 'dishonouring' their family are commonplace in Pakistan.

Qandeel Baloch became a household name for posting bold, sometimes raunchy, photographs, video and comments.

Ms Baloch's parents told The Express Tribune that she was strangled to death on Friday night following an argument with her brother.

Nigeria: Men Who Specialize In Gang Raping, Filming Teenagers To Upload Online Nabbed By Police

Three men, Samuel Akpan, 34, Shola Owolabi, 28 and Michael Lanre, 21, have been arrested by the police in Lagos for alleged gang raping of a 17-year-old girl and uploading the video online.

The suspects who specialized in the act, usually gang rape, film the young girls in the act and upload it to embarrass the victims.

Although the suspects upon their arrest said it was out of mutual understanding, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, who paraded the suspects on Friday before newsmen at the Command Headquarters, said the men were fond of the act.

Buhari Writes Senate Seeking Confirmation Of Magu As EFCC Chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari has written the Senate, seeking the screening and confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Senate President, Bukola Saraki, read the letter, at the Senate plenary on today.

The letter was signed by Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo in his capacity as acting President when
President Muhammadu Buhari was in the United Kingdom on a 10-day medical vacation.

Mr. Buhari appointed Mr. Magu acting chair of the EFCC after the removal of Ibrahim Lamorde on November 9, 2015.

Mr. Magu, if confirmed by the Senate, will be the the fourth head of the Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, after Nuhu Ribadu, Farida Waziri and Mr. Lamorde.

Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West, has addressed his reported clash with Oluremi Tinubu, the senator during a senate’s closed-door session on Tuesday.

While addressing a press conference today, Mr. Melaye said he never spoke about impregnating Mrs. Tinubu, whom he said had reached menopause.

He said he did not use “insolent, abusive, degrading and mannerless language against any Senator. How could I have said I would beat and impregnate her at the same time?” Mr. Melaye asked.

Serena Williams hid a secret heartache as she won Wimbledon last week, it has been revealed.

Her dad, Richard Williams, who coached her and her sister Venus to the top of their game, has had a stroke and has “debilitating memory issues,” his wife told a US website.

Lakeisha Williams, 37, Williams’ third wife said he was released from hospital last week.

“His condition is fair – he’s up and walking around but he’s not at 100 per cent,” she said

“He needs speech therapy, psychological therapy and physical therapy but for now he refused.

Oh Dear! Ex-Burundi Female Minister Shot Dead

Former Burundi minister for East African Community (EAC) affairs Hafsa Mossi has been shot dead by unknown gunmen outside her home in Bujumbura.

“She was near her home and a tinted car knocked her from behind, she went out to see what happened and was shot twice,” a close relative told The EastAfrican.

Ms Mossi was the chairman of the East African Legislative Assembly's (EALA) Burundi chapter and had played a critical role in Burundi’s integration into the EAC.

Indonesia To Execute 2 Convicts, One From Nigeria

Indonesia plans to execute this year at least two foreign convicts, one from Nigeria and the other from Zimbabwe, the Attorney-General said on Wednesday.

President Joko Widodo has pledged to increase the number of executions this year and next as part of his crackdown on drugs.

Asked if there were any foreigners on the list of convicts to be executed, Attorney General H.M. Prasetyo told reporters: "We have foreigners, among them from Nigeria and Zimbabwe.” He did not elaborate on the crimes of which they were convicted.

Mr. Prasetyo added that no convicts from the United States, Europe or Australia were on the list to be executed this year.

Trump Warns Last Week’s Violence Might Be Just The Beginning

Donald Trump on Monday warned the violence of last week "might be just the beginning for this summer," during an interview addressing recent tensions across the country.

"We are in a divided nation," Trump told the Associated Press. "I looked two nights ago and you were having trouble in 11 different cities, big, big trouble. And the press actually plays it down. I mean, you were having big, big trouble in many cities. And I think that might be just the beginning for this summer."

Two separate instances last week of police killing black men in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, led to protests across the country. A peaceful protest in Dallas, Texas, also turned fatal after a gunman killed five police officers, the deadliest attack on police since 9/11.

Vacation: CCT Adjourns Bukola Saraki's Trial

The Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja, today adjourned the trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki and all pending cases this week and within July and August till September.

The tribunal had originally fixed Wednesday, July 13, to deliver ruling on a fresh application seeking to disqualify its Chairman, Justice Danladi Umar, from presiding over Saraki’s trial.

However, the CCT, via a statement by the Head of its Press & Public Relations Department, Mr. Ibraheem Al-hassan, said it has adjourned all sittings scheduled for this week and those to come within July and August, till the end of recess to be embarked by the Tribunal’s Judges soon.

Justice Umar however assured litigants currently with cases before the court, that they would be given new dates at the end of the vacation in September.

25-Year Old Man Caught With Head If His Son

The Police in Bauchi on Monday said they have arrested a 25-year-old man, Maikudi Mohammed, for being in possession of the head of his child.

The Bauchi State Police Command said in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, that the man was arrested in Misau Local Government Area of the state, based on
intelligence report.

The man was allegedly caught with his son’s head wrapped in a cloth.

A young Portugal fan was on hand to console a Frenchman who was devastated after his team was defeated 1-0 in the Euro 2016 final last night. It is believed the footage was captured in one of the fan zones in and around Paris. Eder scored the only goal of the game in the second period of extra-time to secure the silverware for Fernando Santos' side.

A string of bold singletons have signed up to be on a new television show which airs this Friday and sees complete strangers strip each other down to their underwear within seconds of meeting. The programme, called TLC's Undressed, will see couples - who have never met - lie on a bed together and answer intimate questions. Lauren and Sam, both 23, (left and right) 'both love to party and be sociable', according to the show's producers. They can be seen hugging after taking nearly all of their clothes off. Meanwhile, Jackie Murray and her partner on the show, 52-year-old Fred (inset), got on so well that they agreed to see each other again after the show, but later decided to take it no further.

While Muslims in Kano were in celebratory mood following series of Sallah events in the state, some others were mourning the death of their loved one. According to online reports, this man 'kicked the bucket' at a filling station while trying to purchase fuel at Zoo road in the metropolis on Friday. Details surrounding his death are still sketchy as at press time.

The wife of a top bullfighter looked on in horror as her husband was gored to death during a festival in eastern Span.  
 Victor Barrio, 29, from Segovia was fighting in Teruel, Aragon in eastern Spain when the bull speared him through the chest. 

His wife, Raquel Sanz, 32, was in the crowd, having organised a group of supporters from their home town to attend the event.
Ms Sanz, who married Barrio in 2014, was said to be 'devastated' as she saw her husband lying motionless on the ground, according to El Espanol.
The matador was taken to hospital unconscious but doctors could not do 'anything' to resuscitate him and save his life. 

Nigerian On Business Visit Found Dead Inside His Flat In India

A 30-year-old Nigerian, identified as Daniel Henry who came to India on a business visit, has been found dead in a flat in Nalasopara, Mumbai. His body was found on Thursday night, already decomposing.

The Police suspected he was electrocuted in the kitchen.

According to The Times of India, Inspector Kailash Barve said that Daniel Henry may have died around three days before his body was found.

Police came to the flat after neighbours complained of foul smell from Henry’s flat. The police broke open the main door and found the body was decomposed.

Obanikoro Allegedly Caught On Tape Loading Plane With N1.29b For Fayose

A Video has allegedly shown how a former Minister of Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro allegedly loaded a chartered aircraft with N1, 299, 490b for transfer to Governor Ayodele Fayose through an associate, Abiodun Agbele. The cash was transferred through HS125-800 5N-BMT belonging to Gyro Air Limited, reports suggested.

The first flight was filled with N724.5million cash to the extent that there was no seat for any crew member or the ex-Minister. It was during the second flight with N494.990m that Obanikoro, his Aide-de-Camp, Lieutenant Colonel A.O Adewale, and crew member joined the trip to Akure Airport.

Records indicated yesterday that for each of the trip, Obanikoro paid $12,500 making a total of $25,000.

Eunice Elisha Killed In Kubwa, Abuja, During Early Morning Preaching

 

 A female early morning preacher was on Saturday killed by unknown assailants in Bolar – pipeline area of Kubwa in Abuja.

The deceased is believed to be a wife of a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

Though details are still sketchy, it was gathered that she was attacked few minutes after she started her usual early morning preaching.

Residents of the area claimed that they heard her preach as usual around 5am but found her lifeless body around 6am.
