Senator Ahmed Lawan and George Akume late Saturday night
emerged the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the office of
Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively in Tuesday’s election
at the National Assembly.
Mr. Lawan from Yobe State scored 32 votes, while Akume from
Yobe State got 31 votes.
The party chairman, John Oyegun pleaded with party members
to accept the outcome saying the process was transparent. His opponent, Senator Bukola Saraki and his supporters were
however absent at the election.
