History makers Arsenal down Villa to retain FA Cup
Arsenal retained the FA Cup in majestic style as their 4-0 demolition of
Aston Villa in Saturday’s final made history for the Gunners and their
manager Arsene Wenger.Wenger’s side swept Villa aside with a
swashbuckling display sparked by Theo Walcott’s first half opener and
illuminated by a sublime strike from Alexis Sanchez to double their lead
after the interval.
Per Mertesacker and substitute Olivier Giroud also got on the scoresheet
for the rampant north Londoners to seal Arsenal’s second trophy in 12
months with the biggest margin of victory in an FA Cup final since 1994.
It was a suitably memorable performance on a historic day which saw
Wenger become the first manager in the post-War period to win the
competition six times, a tally matched by only George Ramsey, who won
the last of his with Villa in 1920.
Abia,T.A Orji Refuses To Vacate Govt House For New Governor
Evil wind seems to have started blowing again in Abia state, unlike
other ex governors that immediately left government house after the
INAUGURATION, T. A Orji has refused to move out. After the INAUGURATION
yesterday and the camouflage reception of some people under the umbrella
of IBEKU PEOPLE, T. A Orji retired back to government house. Mean
while, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu retired back to
his village and as we speak he is operating from there and May operate from there for a longer time.
Another issue boiling right now is the appointment of Gov. Okezie
Ikpeazu ‘s chief of staff, both ex Gov and current Gov have different
person in mind though both persons are from Umuahia.
AFN hopes that Abia state will not be lagging behind because other state
Governor has already appointed key officers like SSG and Chief of Staff
to the Governor.
Remember, some weeks back we notified Abians concerning this appointment tussle.

Court Refuses Application To Stop Wike’s Swearing In
A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday refused an ex parte
application to stop the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Justice Kate
Abiru, from swearing in the Rivers State Governor-elect, Chief Nyesom
Wike, on May 29, 2015.
Justice Ibrahim Buba, while turning down the application, said granting
such would amount to “adding insult upon the injury” of the people of
Rivers State, who currently “have no judiciary.” The judge held that
though the applicants had a meritorious cause of action because the
issues bordered on the sanctity of the constitution, granting their ex
parte application may occasion a state of anarchy in Rivers State. “I am
of the firm view that no court should make the order ex parte to
further compound the problems in Rivers State,” Buba held.

FG orders airport remodelling contractors to return N17.6bn
The federal government has ordered contractors handling airport
remodeling projects but failed to deliver, to return funds collected
back to government coffers.Aviation minister, Chief Osita Chidoka, gave
the directive on Tuesday, while presenting his scorecard as aviation
minister in the last eight months.According to Chidoka, many of the
contractors had nothing to show for the mobilisation funds and other
contract funds they had already collected, and they must, therefore,
refund the monies, adding that in some cases, the quality of job done
was very poor while in other cases they were uncompleted.
The remodeling exercise commenced in 2011 during the tenure of Princess Stella Oduah as Aviation minister.
The outgoing minister explained that when he assumed office, a committee
was set up to look at the projects that had been abandoned. He added
the committee came up with a report that most of the projects were
substandard, adding that aside the order for them to return the funds,
most of the contractors had been asked to return to the sites and
complete the projects.
