And a source claiming to be close to Lady Victoria Hervey has now come forward claiming that she enjoyed a steamy threesome with the couple, who are currently in the midst of a divorce.

A friend of the 40-year-old former 'It girl' alleges that she enjoyed a steamy threesome with the couple, both 41, who are currently in the midst of a divorce. 

The claims date back to 2007, but the revelation was made amid accusations that the 'open' nature of Mel and Stephen's relationship led to the demise of their 10-year marriage.

It also follows an Instagram picture that resurfaced this week, purporting to show Stephen in a clinch with two women, one - he joked - being his wife.

Lady Victoria reportedly watched her appearances on Dancing With The Stars, and they were said to enjoy frequent nights out following the show. 

The source added that the 'night of passion' happened in November 2007. 

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Mel, Stephen and Lady Victoria and is awaiting response.

Speaking to the Guardian in 2014, Mel denied having an open relationship with Stephen, adding: 'No, me and my husband are very tight and solid.'  

'I had a girlfriend. So what? I did have a four-year relationship with a woman.

'People call me lesbian, bisexual or heterosexual, but I know who's in my bed...'

Taking to Instagram last year, the father-of-two shared a saucy snap and tagged Mel, teasing fans that he and the Spice Girl were involved.

The reappearance of the photo - featuring two women and one man with his hand between their thighs - comes in light of claims from his brother Jeremiah that the couple had an 'open and loose' relationship - which led to their divorce. 

The joke began when Kim Kardashian shared a number of racy black and white snaps to her Instagram, while at a friend's wedding in Miami with husband Kanye West.
