President Jonathan Appoints New Inspector- General Of Police

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has approved the appointment of AIG Suleiman Abba as the new Inspector-General of Police.

AIG Abba, currently the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7, comprising Abuja, Kaduna and Niger states, replaces the incumbent Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar who proceeds on statutory retirement today having completed 35 years in service.

The incoming Inspector-General, a lawyer, hails from Jigawa State and is an alumnus of the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies.

A 35-year-old man, Yinka Offehin, is battling for his life at a private hospital in Lagos State after his scrotum was cut by the children of his landlady.
The Edo State indigene, who resides on Popoola Street, off Abaranje Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos, was said to have been attacked while sleeping in his room with his family members.

His wife, Bisi, who was with him when the incident happened, identified the assailants as Solomon and Damilola, the children of the landlady.

Alleged Kaduna Bomber Disguised as Woman is Innocent?


The Nigerian military had on Friday, after the bomb blasts that targeted former military head of state, Mohammed Buhari's convoy, said they have arrested a suspected bomber who disguised himself as a woman. A statement by the Defence Headquarters said the suspect was arrested by a security team that arrived at the explosion site not long after the blast. President Jonathan Drops Wife From Washington DC Trip, To Travel With 73 Delegates


            Goodluck Jonathan          President Goodluck Jonathan Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has dropped his controversial wife, Patience, from his 73-man delegation heading to Washington DC for the “U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit” which begins next Monday. 
Mr. Jonathan is billed to arrive in the US capital on Sunday, rolling in with one of the largest delegations at the three-day summit, but it is a trip governed by fear of the unknown, including possible uncomfortable encounters with members of the press, protesters and angry citizens.
Observers say the Nigerian leader’s decision to drop his wife from the trip stems from deep concern that she might be humiliated in Washington DC over her denunciation of the kidnap of hundreds of Nigerian school girls in Chibok, Borno State, in April.

Presidency Shared N22.4m to Chibok Parents, Escaped Girls - Community



The Kibaku Area Development Association (Chibok community), has explained that the Presidency shared N22.4m to the Chibok parents and the escaped girls that held a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan on July 22,2014, contrary to reports that N100m was doled out to the recipients.

The association in a press statement signed by its Spokesman, Dauda Ilya, in Abuja on Wednesday, said that: 63 individuals comprising:

The 'magic spray' will be used at free-kicks to mark out where the wall should stand 10 yards away from the ball and has been shown to prevent encroachment and speed up play.
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said: "At the Premier League we are open to developments that enhance the competition and it was clear from watching the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil that vanishing spray benefited referees, players, and all of those who watched the matches."

The painful condition causes inflammation and ulceration of the inner lining of the rectum and colon, triggering symptoms such as diarrhoea and stomach cramps. A decade ago he was preparing to compete in a body-building competition when his symptoms prevented him from training and last October his health had deteriorated so much that he required surgery. Doctors removed his entire colon before fitting him with a stoma bag on the outside of his body to collect waste. He was warned that training would be dangerous but decided to go ahead anyway.

10-Year-Old Girl Found Wearing Explosive Device Apparatus In Katsina

                                                                                                                                                                                 Nigerian military forces have arrested and detained a pair of suspected Boko Haram members, who were allegedly travelling with a 10-year-old girl who was wearing a suicide bomb apparatus.
Nigerian military personnel in Borno State A government spokesman alleges that the suspects, intercepted today, were travelling along a road in Katsina in a Honda CRV. The child, named Hadiza, was later discovered to have been strapped to an explosive belt, the spokesman claims.

Awai's family, who claimed they were relatives of the First Lady, alleged that Awai was in fact the First Lady's nephew, son of the First Lady's younger sister. An inquest, publicized on SaharaReporters following the incident, sought answers to several pressing questions from the family regarding hotel negligience in Awai's case. Though the family is still fighting the legal battle, today's developments certainly add elements of intrique and confusion to the unfortunate case.

Twin Blasts Kill 17, Wound 35 in Potiskum

At least 17 people, including suicide bombers, died in two bomb blasts that went off in Potiskum, the capital of Yobe State, a security source has told SaharaReporters.
One of the blasts happened close to 7.30 p.m. (Nigerian time) yesterday at a mosque near the palace of the Emir of Potiskum, the town’s traditional ruler. The second explosion went off a few minutes later at another mosque, Sakafa Mosque for All Muslim Brothers, in same town, according to our security source.
A resident of the town, Umar Suleiman, told our correspondent, “the bomber targeted the evening prayer time for Muslims.” According to him, the bombers “drove a car with explosive devices near the mosque and detonated it while the second explosion was thrown into another mosque some minutes later.”
Our sources said that at least 17 people died, including the attackers. Close to 40 people sustained varying degrees of injury, our sources revealed.

A 43-year old mechanic in Minna, Obi Orji has committed suicide over his inability to pay his N35,000 house rent b y drinking a poisonous chemical. It was learnt that Obi took his own life after his wife and five children had left for the morning mass, leaving only him at home. Here’s how his colleague described what happened.
Obi’s landlord, simply identified as Alhaji Lateef, had constantly traced him to his workshop at the Mechanic bye-pass in Minna, threatening to forcefully evict him out of the house if he failed to pay his rent at the appointed date.

Amosun Blasts Fayose, Others Over Rice Distribution

Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has blasted Ekiti State Governor Elect, Ayo Fayose and other politicians who have formed the habit of distributing rice and other gift materials during election periods. The incumbent IGP Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar, whose tenure expires tomorrow, July 31, 2014, was appointed the 16th indigenous IGP in January 2012.

So Much Ado About Alleged N100m Received From Presidency By Parents Of Chibok Girls

There has been so much to talk about after some of the chibok missing girls' parents visited president Jonathan in Aso Rock few days ago.
Some of the parents alleged that the sum of N100m was given to community leaders to distribute among them soon as they ended their meeting in Aso Rock, but they gave them peanuts instead. Some even boldly told BBC Hausa how much they received and how some of them were really under paid as much as receiving N7,000, while some received, N200,000 and others slightly above.

Mikel Obi Gets British Passport In October

Mikel Obi is about to get his British passport in October, and he’s turning all offers down for now to at least stay in Chelsea for him to obtain his passport first, which he is due to get in October.
“Mikel will be a British citizen by October and that was one of the main considerations why he has opted to stay put at Chelsea at least for the time being. Nnewi Motorcycle Parts Dealer Arrested With Drugs On His Way To China

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 39-year old motorcycle parts dealer, Ogbodo Chibuzor David for trying to smuggle 11.06kg of dried weeds that tested positive for cannabis to China.
The suspect who concealed the drugs in various food items was arrested following the discovery of cannabis inside his bags at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos when he was about to board a Qatar Airline flight.

Duchess takes part in a game of 'three tins' during visit to athlete's village at Commonwealth Games

After watching the athletics at Glasgow's Hampden Park and meeting sprint king Usain Bolt, the young royals played a game of 'three tins'. The game involves knocking down three tins with a ball before running into the middle of a square, rebuilding them and hopping over the tins three times. Kate cheered as she knocked the tins over and looked up and smiled after completing the task in her high-heeled wedges. Wills and Harry later faced each other in opposing teams as they played the same game.
