ARSENAL 2-0 CRYSTAL PALACE Think of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s 'scorpion' style goal against
Sunderland. Think of Jack Wilshere’s goal against Norwich, three years
ago, a slick and intricate Arsenal sweep of the pitch with a sting in
the tail. Put them together and you get Olivier Giroud’s goal against
Crystal Palace. An exquisite moment of such delight that will probably
survive the next 364 days and still be the Premier League’s best goal of
2017. It is certainly the most outrageous of this season. And it was,
as Arsenal supporters were quick to gloat, falling over each other in a
race to tap the keys of social media, better than Mkhitaryan’s by virtue
of the build-up, the great distance from goal – and the fact it was
onside.
