Brussels Explosions Leave At Least 31 Dead

At least 31 people have been killed in explosions at an airport and metro station in Brussels.

At 8 am local time, two blasts went off at Zaventem airport, killing 11 and injuring 81, according to the Belgian health minister.

An hour after the airport explosions, the Maelbeek metro station was attacked, killing at least 20 and injuring over 100.

However, the mayor of Brussels, Yvan Mayeur, said it is “too early to say exactly what the number of victims will be.”

Two Top Military Officials Assassinated In Burundi

 Two top military officials in Burundi were assassinated by unknown gunmen in the Burundian capital Bujumbura on Tuesday.

On Tuesday around midday, Lieutenant Colonel Darius Ikurakure, who was a close ally of President Pierre Nkurunziza, was shot and killed at the Defense Ministry compound by a man dressed in a military uniform. The assassin then fled the scene, according to military reports.

Former Head Of Brazilian Miner Vale Dies In Plane Crash

Roger Agnelli, the former head of Brazilian mining giant Vale has died. He died along with six other people when a small plane crashed into a residential building in Sao Paulo.

The press office for Sao Paulo state's firefighters confirmed that seven people died in the Saturday crash, while the National Civil Aviation Administration said that the plane was registered to Agnelli, who was 56.

"My family and I are shocked over the tragedy that befell my friend Roger Agnelli and his family," Senator Aecio Neves wrote on Twitter.

Agnelli's death has been widely covered by the Brazilian media, which cited testimony from his inner circle of friends.

Enough Is Enough, NLC Tells Gov El-Rufai

Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, yesterday, said their members had been pushed to the wall by the policies and actions   of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, and warned, “Enough is enough”.

The two bodies also directed Kaduna State government workers to converge on the state secretariat of the NLC for a “super congress” where they said a  decision would be taken on a matter that borders on the interference of the state government on union matters.

The two unions were reacting on the Verification Form given   given to workers with a clause on whether they wanted to belong to unions or not. The President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Waaba, and his TUC counterpart, Comrade Shehu Ayuba, addressed a joint press conference, yesterday in Kaduna on the issue.

Astonishing footage shows baby's heart beating OUTSIDE his body

                     

Alarming footage has emerged from China of a baby born with an extremely rare condition whereby his heart is partly on the outside of his body.

In the video, captured in Xianyang, Shanxi Province on Monday, the baby's heart can be seen beating in the middle of his chest with only a thin layer of skin covering it.

He lies on his back as nurses tend to him. They gently wipe his chest, carefully avoiding the pumping organ. 

EFCC, CCB Narrates How Saraki Allegedly Looted Kwara + The GTB Connection

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday gave a low-down on how Senate President Bukola Saraki allegedly looted Kwara State during his tenure as governor between 2003 and 2011.

The CCB and EFCC in a joint response to the claim by Saraki that his ongoing trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) was a witch-hunt, told of how Saraki allegedly amassed properties in Lagos, Abuja and London, using Kwara State funds.

The agencies also detailed how Saraki allegedly siphoned public  funds through  Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) Plc  into his personal foreign account, and with which he procured a property in London.

PDP Ward Agent Shot Dead By Unknown Gunmen (Graphic Photo)

A ward agent of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, Tambari Ntoti was this afternoon shot dead by unknown gunmen.

Ntoti was murdered while voting was ongoing in ward 3 Nonwa, Tai local government area of the state.

The PDP alleged that its ward agent was killed by thugs suspected to be working for the All Progressives Congress, APC. See the full photo below.

Teenager Shoots Retired Headmistress Dead In Edo

A teenager, who has been on the wanted list of the Nigeria Police as a serial killer, Happy Agbangbanyan, has killed a retired headmistress, identified as Clara Uwaifo.

Clara, aged 65, was shot dead in front of her residence at 27, Oviawe Street, off Upper Siluko road, Ogida, Benin-City, at about 3pm.

She was said to be returning from the hospital where she went to see her daughter when she was killed.

BREAKING: Boeing 737 passenger jet crashes at Russian airport, killing all on board, including at least 55 passengers and four crew

                           

A FlyDubai Boeing 737-800 has crashed in a fireball while it attempted to land at a Russian airport killing everyone aboard.

Russia's Emergencies Ministry said Flight FZ981 was carrying 55 passengers and six crew members from Dubai when it crashed at Rostov-on-Don airport, according to The Associated Press. 

The Ministry said in a statement: 'The plane made a second round coming in to land because of bad weather conditions. 

'At landing the tail touched the runway, began to break down and burst into flames. At present, no combustion.'

Eight-year-old pupil of Prospect Primary School, Akute, Ogun State, Oyindamola Onimole, has been detained by the Ajuwon Police Division.

It was gathered that Oyindamola, who was held by the police between 6pm on Wednesday and 12pm on Thursday, was arrested by a policeman from the station for reporting a teacher in the school, identified simply as Mrs. Oni, to his mother.

Punch Metro learnt that Oni, who is the wife of one of the policemen at the station, had maltreated Oyindamola at school and the pupil reported her to his mother, Mrs. Nimota Onimole, who subsequently stormed the school and complained about the assault.

Ibori Will Return To Delta On Or Before July To Sanitize It- Ayiri Emami

Billionaire and business magnate, Ayiri Emami has said former Delta State Governor, James Ibori who is currently serving a prison sentence in the UK will return to Delta State, Nigeria on or before July. Ayiri who is believed to be his close associate said this confidently in Warri. He also noted that a lot of things which are happening now in the State, wouldn’t have happened, if Ibori was around, and he would be coming back to sanitise it.

“There have been speculations as to when Ibori would return, but I can confidently tell you that by June or at most July, he would return home to Nigeria and we all need him, especially in Delta to sanitise things again.

“If he were here, a lot of things would not have happened. Ibori was one of those who predicted that Goodluck Jonathan and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, would not win the 2015 Presidential election. The world's most wanted man, a prime suspect in the Paris terrorist attacks, has been wounded and captured in a police raid in Brussels. Salah Abdeslam was shot in the leg by police commandos and has been arrested in the district of Molenbeek in the Belgian capital.

The country's minister for asylum and migration, Theo Francken, confirmed the capture this afternoon announcing: 'We got him'.

Prosecutors said earlier today that his fingerprints were found at the scene of a separate police raid on a Brussels flat, which took place on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old, whose brother blew himself up during the slaughter in Paris in November, was said to be one of the suspects who went on the run after a shoot-out.  It is understood grenades were used in the operation, which unfolded at about 4.30pm.

El-Rufai Denies Cancelling Easter Break In Kaduna

A housewife, Mrs. Blessing Etoor, defied doctor’s instruction that she would be delivered of her babies by Caesarean section.

Mrs. Etoor, an indigene of Eleme in Rivers State by marriage, who now has 10 children (six girls and four boys) through multiple births, eventually gave birth to triplets around 1am on Monday at home the natural way without going through the knives.

It was gathered that Mrs. Etoor, who was formerly a hair dresser, was able to push for the first baby to come out before help finally came her way from a local nurse.

Former Delta State Governor Dies

A former Delta State Governor and Nigerian businessman, Olorogun Felix Ibru is dead. He reportedly passed on yesterday at the age of 80 after a brief illness.

Felix was born on the 7^th of Dec. 1935 at Agbarha-Otor in the Ughelli North local government area of Delta State to Chief Peter Epete Ibru and Chief (Mrs). Janet Omotogor Ibru.

After 48 Years Of Paternity Mess, Yakubu Gowon Accepts Son

Former military Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, retd; yesterday owned up to fathering a love child with the late public relations expert, Princess Edith Ike Okongwu, bringing to an end the 48-year-old paternity dispute over Musa Gowon.

Musa, who returned to Nigeria at the end of last year, after about 23 years in a United States prison, was acknowledged by Gen. Gowon upon the report of a conclusive DNA test.

The paternity dispute was the subject of a legal action that reached the Supreme Court in Nigeria, which Okongwu won.

Man Remanded In Prison For Killing Motorcyclist Over N200 Fare

An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court today remanded a security guard, Habila Hayanchi, 25, for allegedly stabbing a motorcyclist, Mohammed Awwal to death over N200 fare. Hayanchi was charged with culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Mohammed Aluko ordered the remand of the accused in Okekura Prison, Ilorin after he pleaded not guilty to the charge and the prosecution objected to his bail. The Police prosecutor, Cpl. Abegunde Elijah, argued that the offence committed by the accused was not ordinarily bail-able.

The Magistrate adjourned the case until March 22 for mention.

Elijah had told the court that the incident occurred at Tanke area, Ilorin on March 21. He said argument ensued between the accused and the motorcylist over payment of N200 fare. The prosecutor said that in the cause of the argument, the accused brought out a jerk knife and stabbed the deceased in the neck.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has revealed she is keen to start a new chapter in her life and become a mother. The 45-year-old supermodel said she does not know ‘which way’ she will have children but that motherhood is something she has always thought about.

Court Sends Former Chief Of Defence Staff, Badeh To Prison

A Federal High Court in Abuja today ordered former chief of defence staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh to be remanded in Kuje Prison until Thursday, when his bail application will be heard. The court also fixed 14 March for the beginning of his trial.

Badeh is facing a 10-point charge of theft and corruption, according to an indictment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the stolen money is said to belong to the Nigerian Air Force.

Just recently, the sum of $1m was found in cash at his Maitama mansion.
