Photos: He was Going To Be Epe LG Chairman, But Died on Election Day

These are campaign photos of Muheez Bello an APC candidate contesting for the position of a Local Government Chairman in Epe, Lagos who died on Saturday.  Muheez died shortly after casting his vote and was on his way back home but had to board a ferry which will take him and his friends’ home, and that was when the unfortunate incident happened. The boat capsized and Muheez lost his life alongside the Olu of Epe’s first son, who also died and four others.  
Mr Muheez was a core politician and was loved by all. See more photos of him below. May his soul rest in peace.

EXCLUSIVE: Preliminary National Presidential Election Results Show Buhari Leads

SaharaReporters received the most current preliminary national presidential election results, provided by a credible source.
                                                                                          

The below table shows that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading in most key states across the country, with APC currently having 69% of the vote and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) having 30%. These numbers have not been publicly confirmed by the Independent National Election Comission (INEC), but offer the first national picture of voting trends.

No Election Rigging Took Place In The Southeast: Jega

 Professor Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has denied claims that rigging or vote manipulation took place in Nigeria's Southeast or Jigawa State, claiming that INEC has not received any reports about any such events.

The INEC chairman confirmed that an INEC office in heated Rivers State was “torched”, mentioning that the Commission was investigating. The claims of INEC staff being substituted by untrained personnel at polling places were being investigated as well, according to the chairman.

Buhari Leads In Preliminary Vote Count, Defeats Jonathan At Aso Rock Polling Units - SR

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, received more votes than President Goodluck Jonathan in polling units within Aso Rock Villa, an area that contains the official residence of the Nigerian president. 
                                                               
Results from polling units 021 and 022, located in Aso Rock, revealed that Mr. Buhari’s APC polled 265 and 348 respectively in the presidential election. Mr. Jonathan, who ran for reelection on the ticket of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), received 293 and 302 respectively in the two polling units.

Election Violence In Rivers State Consumes Soldier, 3 Others

Three persons and a soldier have been reportedly killed as elections turned violent in Rivers state yesterday. Pm News reports that, one was killed with a machete in Ozuoha, in Ikwerre Local Government Area. Another person was allegedly shot dead by a soldier at Alode-Eleme Ward 3, Unit 2, while there were reports that an Ogoni youth known as Mr. Saturday Nkirine was also killed in Kpite in Tai Local Government Area.
Brigadier Essien Essien of 2 Brigade confirmed the killing of the soldier at Wimpey area, Ward 9 in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area. He told Governor Chibuike Amaechi that one his soldiers was killed.

There were also reported cases of shooting in Buguma, Asari Toru local government and houses were also burnt in Bera, Gokana local government area.

Kastina State Police Commissioner Dies

The Kastina State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Muhammad Hurdi has died. Hurdi died on Friday, March 27, 2015 after a protracted illness.

The late commissioner joined the Nigerian Police Force in 1988 as an ASP cadet officer and rose through the ranks to the rank of a commissioner. May his soul rest in peace.

Gunmen In 4 Hilux Buses Attack Collation Centre In Bauchi

Gunmen on Sunday morning attacked a centre where election results were being collated in Bauchi State. Apart from attacking the Central Primary School in Alkaleri Local Government which was being used as a collation centre, the gunmen also attacked Alkaleri Divisional Police Station, and an INEC office, a resident told Premium Times.
He said the gunmen came in four Hilux vehicles, shooting sporadically as residents scampered for safety and those indoors remained there. The source said the gunmen told residents not to panic.

“They said they have no intention to harm any body. After the destruction they left for Bauchi (Town), because they took Bauchi road,” he said.

Oshiomhole Accuses Dokpesi Of Using Soldiers To Disrupt Elections, Beat Edo People, As Dokpesi Denies Involvement

The Edo State government and the owner of Daar Communications, Raymond Dokpesi, on Sunday exchanged words over allegations of sponsoring attacks on voters in Edo.
A spokesperson for Governor Adams Oshiomhole in a message sent to Premium Times accused Mr. Dokpesi of using soldiers to attack voters in the state.

Five Bags Of Permanent Voters Cards In Hands Of Local Party Canvassers In Delta State



Concern is building in Delta State amongst would-be voters who do not yet have their permanent voters cards (PVC).
Rumours have been spreading that PVCs that have yet to be collected are in the hands of party agents and canvassers, who will distribute them on election day.

An On Our Radar reporter in Delta State photographed five bags of PVCs in the hands of party canvassers. One canvasser, who wishes to remain unnamed, confessed that he was "given instruction not to issue cards today, but wait until election day to distribute them." He explained that he believed the PVCs had come straight from INEC, as it was an easy way for them to ensure remaining cards were distributed. The canvasser could not confirm if any money had changed hands for the bags of cards.

 A credible security source has disclosed that Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has perfected a series of plans to manipulate tomorrow’s presidential and legislative elections in his state in favor of President Goodluck Jonathan and other candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
 
The source revealed that the governor has converted a guesthouse in the state’s newly constructed Government House along Willington Bassey Way, Uyo into an election operational base/situation room to coordinate the electoral plot. He said the governor had recruited some well-trained ICT experts to man the room.

President Jonathan Finally Accredited Via Incident List After Card Reader Failed

President Jonathan and his wife were back at the polling unit in Otuoke where they were turned down earlier this morning due to the failure of a card reader. It happened to both the president and his wife. The president immediately after the card reader failure addressed newsmen who were waiting to speak with him, saying he would exercise patience and be back to be accredited. He also used the opportunity to tell Nigerians who would experience such to be patient with INEC officials and remember the devices are new.

He however got accredited manually via the incident list at exactly 11:06am, few minutes ago.

Pics of Germanwings killer pilot. Was receiving psychiatric treatment until the day he crashed plane

Pilot Andreas Lubitz might have been suffering a personal crisis at the time of the fatal Germanwings crash, it was claimed last night. Reports from Germany suggested the 28-year-old was struggling to cope after a failed relationship when he deliberately ploughed the Airbus A320 into the mountainside, killing his 149 passengers.

The theory emerged just hours after police investigating the disaster announced they had made a 'significant discovery' during a four-hour search of Lubitz's flat, which he is said to have shared with a girlfriend. Officers refused to reveal details of the potential breakthrough but insisted it was not a suicide note.

Disaster! Labourer Kills Civil Servant Three Days To Retirement (Photo)

The Emereonye family has been thrown into mourning over the gruesome murder of one of its sons, Mr. Emmanuel Emereonye, a federal civil servant.
It was gathered that Emmanuel was killed three days to his retirement from the service.
Emmanuel, an administrative officer at the Federal Government Girls College, Umuahia, was on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, butchered by a labourer he hired to work for him in his hometown at Dioka Nzerem village, in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

EFCC denies freezing Father Mbaka's accounts

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has denied reports that they froze the accounts of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka. 
 
There were media reports yesterday that Fr Mbaka had claimed during his sermon on Wednesday March 25th that the EFCC had frozen his bank accounts and that he was invited to their Port Harcourt office for questioning. He supposedly said he went to the bank on Tuesday March 24th to cash some money to buy foodstuff for the poor who had just returned to Enugu from the North and the cheque he presented was rejected.
EFCC Spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren released a statement late yesterday denying that the agency froze his account. See the statement after the cut..

Some of the passengers said they were at the airport for their 9am flight but the airline kept on delaying the flight until 9pm when they informed them the flight had been cancelled.

Gunmen Fire at Gov. Rotimi Amaechi Convoy In Rivers State





Armed men numbering over 10 opened fire on the convoy of Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State in Port Harcourt, the state capital. The governors escorts returned fire and repelled the attack.

Premium Times reports that at least two people were injured in the attack which occurred Thursday evening.

The governor’s spokesperson, David Iyofor, said “thugs” shot at the governor in Rumuolumeni, Obio Akpor, area of Port Harcourt.

Germanwings Co-Pilot Appears To Have Deliberately Crashed Plane !

The co-pilot of the Germanwings airliner that crashed on Tuesday in the French Alps killing all 150 people aboard appears to have brought the A320 Airbus down deliberately, the Marseille prosecutor said today.
German Andreas Lubitz, 28, left in sole control of the Airbus A320 after the captain left the cockpit, refused to re-open the door and operated a control that sent the plane into its final, fatal descent, the prosecutor told a news conference.

The French prosecutor said Lubitz was not known as a terrorist and there were no grounds to consider the crash as a terrorist incident. Recordings suggested passengers' screams began just before the final impact.

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Ali Olanusi has decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party where himself and the Governor, Olusegun Mimiko had been strong members. Olanusi this morning decamped to APC.
It will be recalled that Rivers State Deputy Governor also defected from APC to PDP last Sunday.

We Will Accept Outcome Of Election –Jonathan, Buhari

The two leading candidates in Saturday’s presidential election have signed another peace accord in Abuja, promising to accept the outcome of “free, fair and credible elections”.
The accord, initiated by the National Peace Committee, was signed Thursday by President Goodluck Jonathan, the candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and his main challenger, Muhammadu Buhari of the opposition All Progressives Congress.

“We call on INEC and all security agencies to ensure strict adherence to their constitutional roles,” Messrs Buhari and Jonathan said in a joint statement released after the agreement signing ceremony. “We also pledge to respect the outcome of free, fair and credible elections.”
