Daniel Sturridge scored a superb goal as England eased to a 3-0 win over Peru at Wembley.
England had Joe Hart to thank for a couple of crucial early saves, most notably from the lively Jean Deza, whose shot looped off Phil Jagielka and the Manchester City goalkeeper did well to make the save.
But England took the lead
through Sturridge's fine individual strike, cutting in from the right
and arrowing an unstoppable drive into the top corner, after Peru were
caught asleep for Glen Johnson's quick throw.
Gary Cahill made it 2-0 with a header from Leighton Baines's corner, which the Chelsea defender steered inside the near post.
Peru had chances to make things
difficult for England, but were wasteful in front of goal, with Deza
unable to put away their best chance after Johnson needlessly
surrendered possession, but Jagielka made the necessary block.
Jagielka then scored his second
international goal, stabbing in from close range after Peru goalkeeper
Fernandez dropped Baines's corner.
The result gives Roy Hodgson's side a morale-boosting win in their final game on home soil before the World Cup.
