Atletico Madrid progressed to the semi-final of a European Cup for the first time since 1974 courtesy of a first-half goal from Koke in a tense and fascinating 1-0 victory on the night resulting in a 2-1 aggregate scoreline over Spanish rivals Barcelona.

record-extending seventh consecutive appearance in the last four.A fired-up Atletico blew Barca away in the opening 20 minutes and after midfielder Koke volleyed in from close range in the fifth minute former Barca forward David Villa twice hit the crossbar.
