70 UNIMAID Lecturers Resign Over Boko Haram Attacks

Chairman, UNIMAID chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Dr. Dani Mamman has disclosed that seventy lecturers of the University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID have resigned due to continuous Boko Haram attacks.

He said this in an interview with Punch saying since Boko Haram began terrorising the North-East, so many lecturers have left UNIMAID summing them up to 70.

Civil Servant Arraigned For Exposing Yahaya Bello's Abuja House

A 32-year-old civil servant, Mr. Johnson Musa, was on Friday dragged before a Lokoja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly threatening and exposing the Abuja residence of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.

Musa, an indigene of Dekina Local Government Area of the state, was alleged to have taken aerial pictures of the governor’s Abuja residence with a drone camera and posted them on social media.

He was said to have posted the pictures with the caption, “This building is owned by an individual in Kogi, where hunger is the first name, in less than one year.”

The prosecuting counsel, Mohammed Abaji, a senior legal officer with the state Ministry of Justice, said Musa was arrested on Thursday by men of the Department of State Services.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby today paid a personal visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at Abuja House in London.

The Archbishop and President Buhari are friends, who share deep respect for each other.

Mr. Welby said he was delighted to see the rapid recovery Mr. Buhari has made from his health challenges, noting that it was a testimony to the healing powers of God, and answer to prayers of millions of people round the world. The cleric pledged to continue praying for both Mr. Buhari and Nigeria.

In his response President Buhari thanked him, noting that the Archbishop has always stood by him at critical times. He wished the Archbishop God's continued grace in his spiritual duty of leading the Anglican Communion worldwide.

My Son Not Groomed For 2019 Kwara State Governorship Race- Saraki

Senate President Olubukola Saraki has denied claims that his son is being groomed for 2019 Kwara State Governorship race, saying the boy in question  has no love for politics.

He disclosed this at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja. He said;

“You know it is not easy for children who are born to politicians, especially in this time, to embrace politics. When I was much younger, we were insulated from some of the political issues, and because we didn’t read the newspapers, we didn’t know what was happening.

“I reluctantly went into politics, you can go and check. Once or twice, I was given the form to run for House of Representatives, and I remember I just travelled and disappeared for months. After seeing what my father had been through I thought to myself that this is not for me” he said.

JK Rowling Apologises After Wrongly Accusing Trump Of Ignoring Disabled Boy

JK Rowling has apologised for wrongly accusing Donald Trump of ignoring a disabled child - though not to the President himself.

The Harry Potter author had called the US President "horrible" after a video appeared to show him refusing to shake the boy's hand in the White House.

The widely-shared clip showed a wheelchair-bound boy, named Monty, reaching his hand in the air as Trump walked past without greeting him. It was branded "despicable" by Twitter users who said it made them feel "sick".

But the full clip of Trump's statement on healthcare showed he actually crouched down to greet the boy as he walked in, before starting his speech.

Military Chiefs Relocate To Maiduguri On Osinbajo's Order

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Burutai, and the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Saddiq Abubakar, have relocated to Maiduguri as directed by the Acting President.

They arrived the Command and Control Centre in Maiduguri today.

Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, disclosed this to newsmen in Maiduguri. We wish them all the best in the fight against terrorism. May God give them victory.

A baby boy was born 'pregnant' with his own twin brother. Doctors discovered the half-formed male baby - complete with a brain, arm and legs - behind the otherwise-healthy baby boy's stomach after he was born.

They successfully operated to remove the 7cm mass, which they suspect was a rare 'foetus in fetu' twin pregnancy - one of around 200 ever recorded in the world.

Radiologist Dr Bhavna Thorat, who spotted the problem during a routine scan, said: 'It was inside a fetal sac of the newborn.'
