Judge Orders Temporary Forfeiture Of N1.5bn Ikoyi Properties Linked To Alison-Madueke

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court has granted a request by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for the temporary forfeiture two properties allegedly belonging to Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Petroleum Minister.

The properties, valued at $4.7 million include Penthouse 21 building 5, Block C, 11th floor (Bella Vista Estate) Banana Island, Ikoyi, and Penthouse 22, Block B (Admiralty Estate) also in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The judge ruled that the properties be forfeited to the Federal Government pending the conclusion of EFCC’s investigation into the ownership of the properties which it reasonably believes were procured with proceeds of crime.

Northern Elders Split Over PDP Chairmanship Race

There were indications in Abuja on Friday that the northern caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party might not be attending the party’s national convention slated for December 9 with one voice.

This is because leaders from the region have pitched their tent with different aspirants vying for the office of the national chairman of the party.

The national leadership of the party had zoned the office of the national chairman to the southern part of the country, while it also ceded the presidential ticket to the north.

However, the party has refused to micro-zone the office of the national chairman to any of the three geopolitical zones in the southern region.

Jigawa Destroys 475 Bottles Of Assorted Beer

The Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State has destroyed 475 bottles and Jerry-cans of assorted beer in the area.

Alhaji Magaji Muhammad, the Information Officer in charge of the council, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria in Dutse on Thursday.

Muhammad said that the items were those confiscated from different vendors operating in the area by Hisbah guards.

Hisbah, a Sharia law enforcement agency in Jigawa, has prohibited the consumption of beer in all parts of the state.

Price Of Rice To Fall To N6000 SOON

Rice farmers, millers and processors on Wednesday announced that the price of a 50kg bag of rice will fall to as low as N6,000 in the next few months.

According to them, the current market price of rice, which is about N15,000 per 50kg bag, will drop to between N6,000 and N7,000 in a couple of months, going by the bumper wet season harvest by rice farmers.

Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting between rice farmers/processors and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, at the ministry’s headquarters, in Abuja, the National President, Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, Mr. Aminu Goronyo, told journalists that operators had resolved to currently reduce price of rice to N13,000 per 50kg, but stressed that the price would further drop to N6,000 in a few months.

Monkeypox Outbreak Hits Bayelsa, Doctor, 10 Others Quarantined

                  Hu                                               Fear has gripped the residents of Bayelsa State as a deadly viral epidemic known as “monkeypox” has broken out in the state.

According to the World Health Organisation, monkeypox is a rare disease that occurs primarily in remote parts of Central and West Africa, near tropical rainforests.

“The monkeypox virus can cause a fatal illness in humans and, although it is similar to human smallpox which has been eradicated, it is much milder,” WHO says.

It was authoritatively learnt that a medical doctor and 10 persons who came down with the monkeypox had been quarantined in an isolation centre at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri, in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.

Scotland Yard said it is making 'excellent' progress in hunting the suspected terrorist who set off a crude bucket bomb on a packed commuter train by Parsons Green tube station in west London at 8.20am. It was the middle of rush hour when the crude bucket bomb - which had a timer - went off at 8.20am inside a tube train packed with commuters, including children and a pregnant woman. The device was hidden in a builder's bucket and could have killed dozens but failed to properly detonate and sent a 'wall of fire' through the carriage at Parsons Green, injuring at least 29 people. Terrified passengers were left covered in blood with scorched hands, legs, faces and hair – others suffered crush injuries during a stampede as they 'ran for their lives' over fears the 'train would blow up'. World’s smallest and shortest woman according to the Guinness World Book of Records, Jyoti Amge is now finally married to the love of her life and the man she is willing to spend the rest of her life with in the holy matrimony.

Jyoti Amge born 16 December 1993 and she is an Indian woman notable for being the world’s smallest living woman according to Guinness World Records.

Following Amge’s 18th birthday on December 21, 2011, she was officially declared the world’s smallest woman by Guinness World Records with a height of 62.8 centimeters (2 ft 0.6 in). Her restricted height is due to a growth abnormality called achondroplasia.
