INEC To Conduct Fresh House Of Reps Election In Adamawa Ward

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will organise fresh election in Pallam/Kojiti Ward in Adamawa State to determine the winner of Michika/Madagali federal constituency election.
Briefing journalists in Yola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Baba Abba-Yusuf said the commission had declared election in the federal constituency inconclusive after a group of thugs snatched ballot boxes on Saturday.

He said the commission was conducting election in the affected ward along with governorship and state Assembly elections scheduled for next Saturday, April 11.

The REC argued that fresh polls became necessary since the difference between two candidates that recorded highest number of  votes is less than the number of registered voters in the ward.
“The collation officer declared the election in Pallam Ward inconclusive and the rule says we should conduct election in that particular ward. Hopefully, we will conduct the election on Saturday along with governorship and state assembly elections”, Abba-Yusuf stated.

A group supporting the PDP candidate for House of Representatives, Adamu Kamale pressured INEC to declare him as winner having scored higher number of votes than his APC counterpart, Dr. Umar Duhu in 25 out of 26 wards, saying results from Pallam/Kojiti Ward could not affect the winner.

In a statement signed by the PDP Collation agent in the ward, Francis Zaman, the group which accused the APC candidate of sponsoring thugs to snatch the ballot boxes threatened to occupy the office of the Resident Electoral Commissioner if the winner was not declared  within two days.
