Court Discharges Popular Socialite, Fred Ajudua Of $1.9m Fraud Charge

Fred Ajudua is a free man again. An Ikeja High Court today discharged the popular socialite and business man of $1.69 million (about N252.8 million) fraud charge.
Ajudua and his co-defendant, Charles Orie were discharged today following the withdrawal of the charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Popular Gospel singer, Taiwo Oshadipe has been buried. She was buried today at Victoria Court Vaults, in Lekki amidst tears. Everything was quiet with only family and close friends in attendance. There was no dust-to- dust rite.

Her twin Kehinde was inconsolable as she kept calling her name, ‘Taiwo, Taiwo’ and chanting, ‘Why did you leave me?’ It was such an emotional sight as others all broke down in tears as the singer was laid to rest. Kehinde also requested to be with the corpse for 5mins before she was lowered in a request the officiating pastor granted her. May her soul rest in peace. So sad!

Obanikoro, Maku, Wike, Others Resign As Ministers

Seven ministers in President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet have resigned their positions today.
Those who resigned are Ministers of Information, Labaran Maku; Trade and Industry, Samuel Ortom; State for Education; Nyesom Wike, State for Defence; Musiliu Obanikoro; Labour, Emeka Wogu; Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu and State for Niger Delta, Dairus Ishaku.

The ministers are said to have quit their posts to pursue their political ambitions as they will be contesting in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in their respective states.

Governor Yero Declares Reelection Ambition, Set To Face El-Rufai In Kaduna Governorship Race

                                                                                                                

After months of speculations about his political future, Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State today revealed his plan to run for reelection, according to a close associate of Vice President Namadi Sambo who spoke to SaharaReporters in Abuja.

PDP Begs Obasanjo For Forgiveness

                                                         The Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) has begged former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo for forgiveness.

Former President Obasanjo The party said the former president should forgive the past and come and lead it to success in 2015.

National chairman of the party, Adamu Mu'azu, offered the apology on behalf of the party in Abuja on Wednesday.

He spoke while welcoming defectors from the Labour Party, led by Gbenga Daniel, to the ruling party.

Nikki Laoye Launches The 2014 #BuyACane Project For Blind & Visually Impaired Persons

Award winning singer and Humanitarian, Nikki Laoye has kicked off the 2014 fundraising campaign tagged "The #BuyACane Project", aimed at raising funds to purchase white guide canes, which are mobility aids for blind and visually impaired persons.
The project is an ongoing initiative under her foundation, Angel 4 Life Foundation founded in 2012 in support of the International White Cane Day which holds on the 15th of October of every year.

Nigeria Threatens South Africa Over Frozen $5.7m Arms Money

According to reports, Nigeria has accused South Africa today of blocking a legal arms purchase and threatened retaliation against major South African companies, including telecom giant MTN, if the spat is not resolved.
A top official in the office of Nigeria’s National Security Advisor (NSA) told AFP that the country had an agreement to buy $5.7 million worth of military hardware in a deal brokered by a South African firm, but the funds were seized and the hardware not delivered.
He said President Goodluck Jonathan had called his South African counterpart Jacob Zuma to inform him about the purchase and he was therefore surprised to learn that the deal had been blocked.
