Broadcasters battle for ‘football’s most wanted pundit’

                                            Sky Sports, BT Sport and the BBC are reportedly locked in a battle for the 'most wanted TV football pundit around', and his name is Thierry Henry.

Arsenal's record goalscorer has suddenly become a very hot property in the world of football punditry after he performed with distinction during his midweek Champions League appearance.

Henry, who currently plays in the MLS with the New York Red Bulls, will see his current contract run until the end of the 2014 season, but it appears his future career is set.                                                                  

Sky Sports, who currently have Henry on an irregular basis in midweek European fixtures, are reportedly locked in a battle with BT Sport for his signature going forward.

But, according to Charles Sale of the Daily Mail, it is the BBC who are perhaps in pole position to build a long-term relationship with the French World Cup winner.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           The BBC will have Henry in their studio for Saturday's Match of the Day in a deal that was already agreed.

Equally, he is to work for the Beeb as a pundit during next year's World Cup finals in Brazil.

While Henry and his advisers are not willing to give anyone an indication as to where he will work long-term as a pundit, there is no doubt that his stock is currently very high.                                                                   

Henry will perform alongside Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on the BBC sofa during the World Cup in what is looking to be an increasingly impressive combination.
